Grays Covered Bridge is part of Ahlberg Park - approximately 20 miles from Longview, Washington. The original platform was built in 1905 by Hans P. Ahlberg. In 1908, Alhlberg added the the roof to preserve the trusses.

Grays River Covered Bridge plans. Designed by Ferguson & Houston of Astoria, Oregon.

The Albert W. Ferguson home is on the historic register. James Earnest Ferguson, Albert’s son, started the architecture firm Ferguson & Houston. More research is required to learn about Houston. My usual technique of using quote marks does not provide results. For example “houston astoria oregon.” Quotes ensure that search engines provide results for the words within the marks. Either way, Astoria is a hub of Oregon and Washington development.

Grays River Covered Bridge was added to the historical register in 1971. The bridge received a repair in 1988 which preserved the structure and ensured it was not torn town.

The original bridge was used to transport livestock from one field to another. The bridge was covered both preservation and to prevent livestock from slipping.
