Rochester Covered Bridge
Rochester Covered Bridge is near Sutherlin, Oregon. It was built in 1933 and “has long maintained an important position with the community, with locals demanding its protection since the late 1950’s” (2013, p. 81).
Covered Bridge History
Floyd C. Frear built the 80-foot Howe truss bridge in 1933. Several sources state that during the 1950’s a nearby covered bridge was burned down to accommodate a modern bridge. A group of armed residents guarded the bridge to ensure its safety.
Photography
I used my 85 mm prime lens on this excursion. I felt the October sun and lens provided a dreamy quality to the photos. The angle of the road and bridge add texture to the image. This is a bridge I could photograph every day for a year. It is the Cindy Crawford of bridges.
