Mosby Creek Covered Bridge

Mosby Creek Covered Bridge in Lane County’s oldest bridge. It spans Mosby Creek and is the only covered bridge in the area that is still active.

Mosby Creek is located near the Row Creek Trailhead. A traveler could park at 77909 Layng Road in Cottage Grove and then walk toward the bridge. Another option is to park east of the bridge and walk along the road. Local residents seem to be aware of pedestrians exploring the bridge.

The Mosby Creek Bridge was build in 1920 for $4,125 by Walter and Miller Sorenson. The bridge was named for 1853 pioneer David Mosby who had a 1,600-acre land claim in the area.

From left to right - Mosby Creek, Hoffman, Irish Bend, Stewart.

Mosby Creek is similar to Stewart with a rounded arch opening (approach, portal or vehicle opening). Hoffman and Irish Bend have the more common portal structure. I believe it is a shouldered opening. Types of Arches
